Interview Trainings Synergy Grants

The interview is an important part of the ERC evaluation process. Here you can find out how the National Contact Point ERC can support you in this process.

In the foreground, you can see the back of a female trainer. She is looking at the participants – a group of people varying in gender which can be seen blurred in the background.

The ERC National Contact Point supports ERC Synergy Grant interview candidates in preparing for their interview, which will take place in Brussels again this year.

We offer the interview trainings both online and in person in Bonn. Two Synergy Grant Groups can participate in each training. The training sessions are open-domain. Together, the two groups have a maximum of two and a half hours in which to simulate their interview. In addition to two colleagues from the NCP ERC, the mock panel should definitely be supplemented by colleagues from the Synergy Grant Group during online training. Please make sure that you as a group are responsible for putting together a mock panel for an online interview training. Ask colleagues, team members and administrative supporters from your institution. In the case of face-to-face training, you are free to decide whether colleagues accompany you for the mock panel. These additional colleagues can also be connected in hybrid mode. The face-to-face training courses can also be converted into online training courses. Please indicate this when registering.

The dates are limited and are primarily aimed at ERC Synergy Grant Groups with a German corresponding host institution that have received an invitation to an interview. If you are a group without a German corresponding host institution, but with German participation, please register via the waiting list. If there are still places available, you are welcome to move up. Please come to the online trainings as well as to the face-to-face trainings in Bonn as a complete Synergy Grant Group.

For the online trainings you will receive an invitation link for the video conferencing tool a few days before the training. We use WebEx for this. Please make sure that you are allowed to use this tool and that the dial-in link is available to all PIs of your Synergy Grant Group and forwarded to all panel members organized by you.

We will publish the dates on our website in the coming weeks.

Registration is expected to be possible from the beginning/mid-July (provided that the interview invitations have been sent out by this time) and will close at the end of July (if not fully booked before then). The registration website can be accessed via the link published at that time. Please have your interview invitation ready when you register, as it must be uploaded (as a PDF). We recommend that you register directly after the start of registration. Please refrain from sending individual registrations by e-mail before registration opens.

Please also send us your B1 part of your ERC application as well as the Annex I (you will probably receive this by the end of July/beginning of August). Please send the files to interviewtrainings@kowi.de.

Registration is initially subject to change. After a review by the NCP ERC, you will receive a binding acceptance or rejection.

If you have any questions, please contact interviewtrainings@kowi.de.
