Further details on the ERC Plus Grant 2026 are now available in the updated 2026 Work Programme. This new funding scheme targets top researchers of all nationalities who aim to carry out projects going beyond a regular ERC grant, for example by fundamentally transforming a field or opening up a new area of research. Researchers at all career stages and in all research domains with outstanding scientific achievements are eligible. The maximum funding is €7 million for a duration of four to seven years, awarded as a lump sum covering all direct and indirect project costs.
Principal Investigators are required to dedicate at least 30 percent of their working time to the project, with at least 50 percent spent in the EU or an associated country. Around 30 ERC Plus Grants are expected to be awarded per year.
The call is planned for publication on 2 June 2026, with a submission deadline of 2 September 2026.
