Funding is available to research infrastructures, higher education institutions, companies and other organisations involved in the preparation, implementation and operation of research infrastructures. Access for individual users and user groups is supported through transnational access activities within the relevant projects.
Funding is provided through funding schemes and other actions set out and updated in usually biennial work programmes.
INFRADEV supports the development, preparation, implementation and long-term sustainability of pan-European research infrastructures, particularly those selected by European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). It also supports the consolidation and optimisation of the European research infrastructure landscape, for example through monitoring, coordination, expansion of European coverage and the integration of existing facilities. A further priority is to strengthen the international dimension and the global positioning of European research infrastructures.
INFRAEOSC supports the further development of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) into a powerful, sustainable and widely accessible environment for research data and digital research services. Researchers should be enabled to provide, process, and reuse data that comply with the FAIR principles. To this end, European and national resources are brought together, and technical and organisational solutions are developed to address new policy requirements, such as the protection of sensitive data and compliance with data-protection rules.
INFRASERV opens up leading national, regional and European research infrastructures to researchers from Europe and beyond. Its focus is on (mainly) cross-border and virtual access ("transnational access", TNA) to facilities, data, instruments and scientific services, as well as on integrating and linking complementary services. Its aim is to harmonise access conditions, improve services and enable research addressing complex scientific and societal challenges.
INFRATECH supports research infrastructures in jointly developing new scientific instruments, high-tech components and advanced services. This also includes the development of joint technology roadmaps and stronger cooperation with industry. The aim is to reduce technological dependencies, stimulate innovation in research infrastructures and companies, and enhance the skills of researchers, engineers, technicians and other research infrastructure staff.
INFRANET supports the provision of high-performance broadband networks and network services that connect researchers with data and computing resources, irrespective of their location, thereby enabling cutting-edge scientific research.
Other actions are not open calls for proposals. Instead, they are directed at specific recipients or take the form of procurements or remuneration for evaluators.
