EIT Calls for Proposals

As part of the new EIT Regulation and the new EIT Strategy for 2021-2027, two new Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) will be implemented.

Four wooden dice are standing next to each other on a table. On the front, there are symbols: a glowing lightbulb, three persons connected by dashes, a diagram and money. On the top, there stands another die with the word "Fördermittel" on it.

The winning consortium for the new KIC in the area of cultural and creative industries was announced on 23 June 2022.

The winner is the consortium "Innovation by Creative Economy (ICE)" under German leadership. It has received start-up funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and its headquarters is planned to be located in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

The new KIC will train the sector’s future entrepreneurs, power its cutting-edge ventures and deliver innovative solutions to challenges being faced. As a key driver of economic growth and job creation, it will bridge regional innovation gaps and harness the power of these sectors to support Europe’s cultural leadership.

Another KIC in the Water, Marine, and Maritime Sectors and Ecosystems (2026) is also planned. The call for proposals for this second KIC is expected in 2025.
