ERC Annual Report 2025 published

In June 2026 the ERC published its Annual Report 2025. Overall, the report presents a positive assessment of the year 2025. The focus is on the ERC’s role in funding groundbreaking basic research across all scientific disciplines. The report highlights the central role of cutting-edge research in strengthening Europe’s scientific excellence, capacity for innovation and global competitiveness. Through instruments such as the Proof-of-Concept funding scheme, the ERC is successfully translating basic research into tangible societal and economic impact. Projects funded by the ERC also demonstrate measurable impact beyond the scientific community. In particular, evidence-based decision-making processes are supported in policy-making – especially in the social and environmental sciences. At the same time, the ERC has further expanded its commitment to academic freedom and the recruitment of international talents through new funding instruments and additional resources.
