On 15 September 2022, the ERC Science Journalism Initiative Call was published with a submission deadline of 15 December 2022. With this call, the ERC aims to establish a funding scheme that will allow 3- to 5-month stays of journalists at research institutions. This should allow them to work on in-depth reporting projects by immersing themselves in the research environment and interacting with researchers. Such opportunities, organized for example in collaboration with ERC host institutions and ERC teams, are intended to provide a better understanding of frontier research while respecting journalistic independence. The budget for this call is 1,5 million euros for one project with a maximum duration of 48 months.
